- Hey Longhairs, I had a fairly extensive conversation with my aunt, a hairstylist, regarding shampoos, conditioners, and their ingredients. I was talking about y’all, and since I use your serum, head wraps, hair ties, head bands, and a soft lid on practically a daily basis, I was considering the shampoo and conditioner. She considers silicones (such as Dimethicone and other -ones) as bad or worse for your hair than sulfates. I understand y’all avoided sulfates in the creation of your shampoo and conditioner formulas, but I am curious as to why those ingredients are there and how they may be beneficial or detrimental to someone’s hair. I don’t want to come across as accusatory or anything. Chemistry is a pretty significant part of my field of study, and more than anything, I am interested in why certain ingredients are used in your hair products and what y’all’s decision-making process was behind it. I totally understand if some of this is guarded as an industry secret or something.
- Thanks for the great question. Yes, you are correct, both our shampoo and conditioner are Sulfate and Paraben free. As for the Dimethicone, yes we do use it in our formula and it's a very carefully crafted amount. There is not a ton of it in the formula, so it is not going to weigh down your hair or cause build up. There is the perfect amount, just enough to help smooth the hair shaft, seal the cuticle, and prevent the hair from absorbing humidity while protecting it from heat. We've tried our best to create a top-notch shampoo and conditioner for most hair types. We've tested coarse, thick, thin, dry, and curly hair in the development. Where we landed was what we felt is a strong solution for most. We would urge you to give our set a try and just see how it works for you. We can guarantee that the amount of silicones used in all our products will not cause damage or build up. With that said, you should always consider what is best for YOUR particular hair type. There is no single best solution. It all comes down to your specific hair type and the needs it has to look and feel it's best. We'd love for you to give us a shot and let us know what you think. Even let your aunt give it a critique.

My hair is long, I've been growing it for 11 years since I was thirteen years old (had to cut it to shoulder-length at 16 because I was irresponsible with bleaching my hair), and I've decided that I want to try experimenting with styles.
