The Great Cut was four years ago today, and The Great Cut 2024 is one year from today. The astonishing synchronicity aside, the fact of the matter is we’re 365 days out and it’s time for a hair update. Before we cut to the chase we must pay adieu to The Great Cut 2019.

Our guest on this episode not only does Lunges for Longhairs, he first appeared on Let It Ride in May, 2019, just weeks after The Great Cut, when El Moreno’s freshly-shaven scalp still had razor burn, and El Rubio’s experiment with no facial hair went horribly wrong.

March 16 is enshrined in our hearts forever, as today with our partners at Children With Hair Loss, we celebrate the 3-year anniversary of The Great Cut.

Ocean Beach is the pearl within the oyster that is San Diego. Laid-back, colorful, and outrageous personalities fill these seaside streets. One such character is native Nebraskan, Gale Hopping.

March 16, 2019, or 3/16/19 as we affectionately call it, is a day that will live forever in history. Here in 2021 it’s the 2-year anniversary of The Great Cut.

Here at The Longhairs we publish content about growing our hair to donate and charity hair-cutting events and world records and everything you might conceive about cutting and donating hair. But what if you’re saying to yourself, ‘I don’t want to cut my hair?’

I used to wear a goatee, but for the last year it’s just been the mustache, so I didn’t notice anything at first. However, when I wouldn’t shave for a few days, I started to see little round patches where no hair was growing. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I had developed a condition called alopecia barbae.

It’s been one full year since the big hair donation at The Great Cut, where my head was shaved down to the skin. Time has flown by and when I think back to a year ago, I can recall how much fear I was feeling about awkward stage hair.

Hope you’re doing ok. We’re thinking about the people most impacted right now, from bartenders and servers, hair stylists and barbers, to folks in hospitality and healthcare and lots of others.

March 16, 2019 was an historic day. The Great Cut had successfully donated 339 pounds of hair to Children With Hair Loss, breaking the world record for the most hair donated to charity in 24 hours.

Children With Hair Loss provided a customized hair replacement and hair care kit to 608 children in 2019, the most they’ve ever done in a single year.

On November 2, 2019, Children With Hair Loss hosted their 15th annual Charity Ball in Livonia, Michigan.
